BBC and Leeds College of Music, Quarry Hill, Leeds
To the south of the city's bus station, part of the Quarry Hill area was re-developed to provide the regional headquarters for the BBC, together with a 350 seat auditorium for the Leeds College of Music.
Adopting a contemporary approach to design, this modern and distinctive building has added significantly to the city's townscape, as well as meeting the economic and functional requirements of the end-users.
A restaurant at the ground level provides the backdrop for a stunning and award winning sculpture by Walter Jack that flanks a new public space.
The project is a successful example of true public and private sector collaboration providing an innovative solution for the requirements of the college.
