BBC and Leeds College of Music - Mixed Use - Leeds

The new regional headquarters for the BBC occupies a strategic location in central Leeds opposite the City’s transport interchange.

Adopting a contemporary approach to design, this modern and distinctive building had added to the City’s townscape whilst meeting specific end user demands and requirements.

The building benefits from an impressive glazed entrance space that offers a welcoming face for visitors.

As part of the project, a new 350 seat auditorium was provided for the Leeds College of Music, providing state-of-the-art performance facilities.

A new public space in front of the building has provided the City with a new public square.

An award winning sculpture by Walter Jack forms a centre piece to the square, which is flanked by a new restaurant adding to the vibrancy and use of the space.

The project is a fine example of a true public / private sector partnership providing an innovative response to the requirements of the Leeds College of Music, delivering the new auditorium at no cost to the public purse.
