Proposals are being brought forward for the regeneration of the former Stonebridge Mills to provide 112 new homes, set within a natural parkland setting. The restoration of the Mills for housing will form the centre-piece of this exciting new development, alongside an extended waterside public park, new areas of open space and contemporary-designed family homes.
Stonebridge Mills is a key part of the history of the Farnley and Wortley area but has lain unused, in a state of decay for many years. The site, which extends to some 3.6 hectares, includes a complex of traditional industrial buildings, along with former cottages and mill offices.
The site offers a wonderful opportunity to provide much needed new family homes. The green corridor along the Wortley Beck would be extended to run through the development, with new public parkland and nature areas created.
A planning application for the development has been submitted to the local authority.
